Pastor’s Notes

Pastor Kenny Hix, Simpkins Chapel

When David faced the giant, what did he take with him? A slingshot and some big pebbles and a lot of courage!

The thing that seemed impossible to most people in that situation seemed very possible to David.

It wasn’t by military might or wisdom that he would succeed, it was courage and God’s blessing.

Luckily for you and I we do not have to face Goliath with a sling shot often, but we do have to conjure up courage to be successful in our theme this week that addresses repentance, sins and even unintentional sin.

It is hard enough to acknowledge our wrongs when we know and then repent of that wrong, but what about the sins we commit and don’t even know it?

God calls us to be holy because He is Holy, and this task my friend takes faith, wisdom, acknowledgement, repentance and most of all……….extrordinary courage.

Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law of Moses my servant commanded you.

Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.

For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Have I not commanded you

Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
